The Price Is Right

The Price is Right was an interesting experience. Like Doctor Phil it was a live taping, there was a person that cued us to clap and get excited and there were cameras constantly moving to capture both the crowd and the contestants. However, when we went on "commercial break" they would actually go through and retape certain scenes, mostly those that didn't require the audience. For example, they retaped prize reveals and some voice-overs. Though while the shoot itself was interesting and once we got into it a ton of fun getting there was the difficult part. From the start we had difficulties with the staff there, some were outright rude or snarky to us, and since The Price Is Right was my responsibility it irked me that they wouldn't try to cooperate with on. On top of that, we had to wait three and a half hours and go through multiple pictures and security lines to get where we needed to be. While I may have been bothered by what happened before we got onto the set, I do believe that I learned some lessons about the production world that will outshine the not so great parts.

  1. I never knew they re-taped some of those aspects while on commercial break. What a cool factoid about The Price is Right! I wonder how many other game shows do this? Prof. Shanks
